News Update - March 2023

Engineering Notes

By Tony Massau

Stay hole drilling is in progress through the firebox sides. Some stays are already fitted through the backhead.

The cab window frames have been trial fitted and the front spectacle plate that was removed some weeks ago is now back in position on the loco.

Lubrication pipework continues. Some parts have been made for the drive mechanism for the mechanical lubricators although the job is not finished yet.

Some work has taken place in making sand pipe support brackets for the front sanders and also vacuum pipe brackets for under the left hand water tank.

Our black tin shed was successfully moved to its new location a few weeks ago and is fixed down on to the concrete base.
